Jim, I don't know how the later models handle this function but, when I
upgraded my '91 200Q, I screwed around with jumpers, etc and fought
radio interference all the way.  My final "fix" was to modify the
sensing relay by gently bending over one of the small plug tangs (there
are 4 large tangs and two small tangs on the base of the relay) so that
it would not engage the socket. I'm sure the relay thinks things are
really bad out there but it can't light up that damned warning light.
Not elegant, but it works.
