The company that puts the Ford V8's in the Volvo's is Converse Engineering
in Portland Maine. He has done several cars and I drove one from a set of
three that had been done for David Letterman, Paul Newman and the Prez of
Mobil. I drove the Mobil car. These cars were all 1995 960 Wagons with
auto boxes. They were modified with 5.0 Fords, Kenne Bell blowers,
assorted engine goodies and 5speeds from GT Mustangs. Suspension mods were
Eibach, Koni and IPD. Visually, the car I drove was stock except for a
slightly lower stance on the outside, Borbet wheels, and a the stick on the
inside. The car was putting 386 hp to the rear wheels. The cars cost each
guy about 50K and that included the money the dealer gave back to keep the
stock engine and tranny. I had put in a bid on the Mobil car since it was
sitting at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich CT for the better portion of six
months. They sold the car to some guy for $32.5K who owns a Volvo
dealership.
Ross is working on Mercedes applications as well. He has not done an
all-wheel car conversion. He is just a two man shop and has all the work
he can handle. His website is:
