German Steel

I wholeheartedly agree! I have driven Audi since 1970's - save for one
which I sold, the rest were written off! Now one might say that the steel
was not so good but I would differ. In every one of those accidents, the
other vehicle fared much worse than mine. In one case, I was forced to
broadside an illegally left turning full size Cadillac at a speed greater
than 100km/h. The hood on the Audi was dented and the engine was pushed
back slightly but I walked away.. the Caddy was flipped over onto its roof.
The picture appeared in the newspapers the next day with a title 'Audi
takes Caddy for a flip'. The only time I have ever had an injury was to a
female passenger whilst driving an Aerostar which was hit in the rear
quarter by a truck. Even though the passenger door was not hit, the
passenger door glass shattered and caused a cut on the passenger's cheek. I
was so pissed off... poor design! I have a Mercedes 560 SEL which was hit
in the rear door whilst the rear passenger was trying to exit. The door
edge was bent over slightly, the door pillar was moved forward but the
glass never broke (and you should have seen the other vehicles damage!) I
will always buy German steel.
