RE: Uprating bulbs in 1994 S4

I drive a 1994 S4 and I have tried 100W low beams with no modifications. 
 They headlight plugs melted at the base of the plugs.  If I had to do it 
all again I would definitely get some relays.  I also have been running 
100W H3 Osram fog light bulbs for three years now with no problems (or 
mods) at all.  I'm still not happy.  I think I will just have to invest in 
the Euro lights!!

Does anyone know anything about putting uprated bulbs in the
headlights of a 1994 S4?

One Audi dealer told me they could cope with 100w bulbs unchanged but
for 130w extra relays were needed.  Another told me that relays were
needed even for 100w.  Does anyone know which is correct?

If extra relays are needed how should it be done.  The last I time I
got extra relays put in a car to cope with a total of about 600w of
bulbs my switch still melted.
