    I wasn't going to say anything...BUT, mis-information like
    this might get someone KILLED.  A car door is NO, I repeat
    ABSOLUTELY NO real protection against small arms fire.
    I have taken a few car doors (amoung other things) to
    the plinking range, and even a subsonic 22 will penetrate
    a car door at close range.  A 45 will penetrate at up
    to 50 yards, so the faster slimmer rounds like the 9mm
    will penetrate at even longer ranges and will lose almost
    no energy going through a piece of sheetmetal. FYI, a
    pellet gun can penetrate most of the sheetmetal used on
    cars today, some of those have muzzle velocites equal
    to cartrige propellents.

    I know this must seem like stating the obvious, especially
    when posted to a list with the level of sophistication found
    here, but this is how tragedies happen. "Joe Bob, you get
    behind the door of the Firebird while I show you somethin'
    I read about on the computer thing....."  Followed by
    newsreports calling for Govt' control of the internet
    and the other inanimate objects involved.
