Point well taken, I have been guilty of simply assuming that the dealer
price will be way out of whack, and resort to blowing numerous hours
searching mail order catalogs and such for parts, only to pay shipping
and deal with mistakes (mine as well as theirs). Truth is, the dealer has
far and away the best system for finding the right part, and getting it
to you fast. They are usually the only source for those wierd little
pieces that can give you grief.

I have also wasted a considerable amount of effort replacing parts a
second time around because they weren't quality parts and failed. I have
also fallen prey to "upgrade" parts that were just a bad idea pushed by
aftermarket hawkers. The dealer offers a distinct lack of parts advice,
which considering my past experiences is a benefit. 

That said, I think I'll run down to Audi with my shopping list...well,
not the whole shopping list.
