snow tires

Last spring we took ownership of a 98 A4q and recieved the car with
SP8000's. I purchased Yokohama guardex 600's for it but because it was late
in the snow season I left the guardex's in the garage. 

Prior to that I had been running  Blizzaks which I really liked. I could be
driving down the highway and see cars in the ditch, do a test brake and
wonder what kind of balony skins they had for tires.

With the SP8000's I hit a patch of ice and was out of control quickly. In
my opinion the SP8000's cango on the shelf real quick because it isn't
worth it to trash a car to save a few bucks on snow-ice tires. buy the snow
tires.

It will be interesting to compare the guardex's to the blizzaks this winter.
