Peter,
To "hot tank the head" means to dip it into a hot base solution which will leave
the Al head shiny clean.
To "magna flux" means to add a special die which will reveal small cracks. Watch
for them in-between the valve seats and in the exhaust runners.

Any competent shop can do both.
