Color looks cool. Not to mention, I'll bet it's designed to make people
think harder. Ie, hose bursts and you've got green/clear stuff, it just
looks weird("oh, it's an engine compartment. It's supposed to be dirty.")
With red coolant, it looks like someone got axe-murdered in your engine
compartment.
No to mention most people are intelligent to stop and think before adding
green stuff to a container that has all red stuff(the more likely answer.)
>Improved heat transfer/control
"all new! Improved! 200% better than water itself!"
(water has the highest heat capacity of any material, solid or liquid.
Additives decrease water's heat capacity.)
>Improved hard water tolerance
ie, for all of us morons that fill our cars up with the garden hose(ie, "Oh
sh#t! Low coolant! Got to go to work! Hmm. Get distilled water from
store...or...hmm...garden hose...hmm...")
:)
>Improved enviromental protection
Yes; this coolant kit comes complete with a "save the whales"
bumpersticker; it also now takes 2x as much coolant to hit MD50 in lab
animals :)

I'll make a guess....mixing them or using a different one causes premature
failure of the water pump; the new stuff probably has a lubricant in it(not
to be confused with older lister's cars, where oil from blown headgasket
keeps water pump alive.)
Water pump seizes(+$1500?), timing belt snaps, engine eats 32
valves(+$100-200 each) for lunch, damages all 8 piston heads(+$$$), scrapes
the cylinder walls(new block, +$$$$$$) and damages the head(+$$$$$.) Car
slams to a stop on the highway, gets rearended, therefore car needs special
bodywork at a shop that can handle aluminium bodies($$$$$) and the special
paint process($$$$$.) Oh, and did we leave out the 6 airbags that will
deploy from the various collisions that will ensue from your getting
bounced around the highway like a pinball, after your prompt 80mph->0mph on
a 4-lane expressway in rush-hour?($$$$$$)
Yep, sounds like "engine damage" to me :)
We doubt the warnings in our car manuals, but heed the warnings not to
climb electrical substation fences(I love the simplified cartoon-ish
drawings they now use for those signs.)
