5-cyl is irrelevant.  It controls the wastegate, and has nothing to do 
with the engine itself.

I'm not sure if it eliminates it, but cracking is certainly highly reduced.

Cost (~800.00 for the EVC I think) and possibly ignorance.  It works.  A
few here have BTDT.  Hopefully they'll speak up.
