Color of Anti-freeze
Heads up,
While the color may not matter to many of us with older cars those of you
with A4s, and new A6s/A8s had better get some of the right stuff from the
dealer.
If you add the typical blue/yellow green coolant to the red (pink) stuff in
the car, you know just to top it up, you'll end with coolant that looks
like a system full of chocolate milk. Really. It will turn brown and
sludgy. A sharp dealer will spot while you are in for a free service and
strongly suggest you have it drained. Same goes for new V'dubs. If it
starts red stay red (pink)
The factory says it will take 3 fillings with water and drainings to get it
all out. Maybe the dealer will take pity and do it for free, but they
need to come up with a good reason to make a claim to Audi for the techs
time. An emergency filling with the wrong stuff may fly as an excuse
but.......... There should be a sticker clearly stating that you must
use the new coolant. And the color is a give away. The difference is more
than just color BTW.
Just get some of the right coolant. A message from your friendly Audi
service writer.
