84 4kq 5k rpm brick wall

I remember this came up recently.  Guy who sold me my 85 cgt's 84 4kq
has this feature.  As I recall, it means a 4 cyl part got swapped in and
is trying to do a red line abort.  Was it the fuel pump relay?
