It's nice when that happens ...
UK quattro Owners Club member David Adams called me last Saturday.
"Do you know where we can get ur-quattro MB wiring diagrams?"
His car stopped three weeks ago. It was at a dealer's for a week,
then the dealer gave up and passed it on to an electrical specialist.
The 'electrical specialist' had spent 50 hours dismantling the dash
and tracing the wiring - got nowhere. The car was at High Wycombe,
and I was down in the area today - so I took the diagrams along for
them to have a look at.
We arrived at the specialist's, and David went to find the guy and see
where the car was. I just had a mosey around the lot and found the
car. The bonnet was open, so I lifted it and checked the inlet manifold
grounds. All nice and tight. So I checked the harness ends, and one
pulled out as neat as you like. I left it pointing up in the air,
and walked back to the shop. As David and the 'specialist' came out, I
walked toward them and announced I'd found the problem and would he
mind just re-crimping these two wires?
It was well worth it, just for the looks on their faces.
Started and ran like a bird.
