Two humble suggestions (Oh heck, here we go again . . .)
(Not wound up this AM - probably rational)
Suggestion # 1. (Ducking, nomex and filters on) If we can't abandon the
Levent Bashing thread, can we at least declare a truce until further
notice? After a few days of non-incitement, it will probably go away on its
own - Levent will come back, perhaps a little subdued (part of growing up),
and the Legion of Levent Bashers (title for a new list?) will have recalled
that this list is about Audi rather than individual Audi owners - mint or
not (mine isn't.)
Suggestion #2 - the serious one:
>Like I said, ride the brakes all the way down and you won't make it
>there. There's a good reason why the hillclimb is run UPHILL
>and not downhill, namely, no brakes can hold up to that kind of
>treatment.
>
<<and from another message, same thread>>>
>Often while going down a hill at about 30 mph, 2nd gear is too low
>while 3rd are too high. Anyone else agree? How are this case with
>automatic trasmission?
>
<<Not part of serious question: "What's an automatic transmission?" <G> >>>
Now the serious part: The race has always been run UPHILL because car
manufacturers were always concerned with horsepower. Suppose the race was
run UPHILL and then DOWNHILL, too - wouldn't we quickly have tremendously
improved brakes? Racing improves the breed, right? Sounds like this is an
opportunity for significant improvement.
