They are all manufactured, as far as we can tell, by Lemforder.

The early 'simple' design (just a sphere, essentially) is apparently
identical with a Citroen suspension part.  The later complex thing with
check valves integrated, etc., seems to have been developed for the
Type 44 but is also used on the later ur-quattros.

Pete Reeve was recently clearing stock at GBP140 each for the later type.
He is very pessimistic about getting further supplies at prices much
below Audi's.
