New Clutch 86 4KS

Well, after following this very informative list for a while now, I have
decided the fluttering in my clutch - off the line - is not,(unfortunately),
because I am a sucky driver. Sounds like this is because I need a new clutch.
Also, sometimes have trouble getting gear shifter into first and reverse. I
have figured out how to override the problem, but am assuming this also is
clutch related. Any advice appreciated. You guys are great, and have
significantly enhanced my enjoyment of my 86 4000S. Only negative is you have
me yearning for a Quattro. Thanks alot guys.

Anyhow, anyone know how long this job should take and how much I should pay?

On a completely different subject, my latest job, which I did today was
replace the hood release cable that snapped last week. Lucky thing it broke
with the hood open. Was able to see how the mechanism worked and pulled the
cable with a vice grip until today's repair. Listen to this - the cable only
cost $23! I asked the parts guy if he was sure this is an Audi part. Maybe
they are dropping parts prices. Or maybe just a fluke! Hope the price of the
clutch parts are just as cheap.

Thanks again for your continued great advice.

Jeff
