My daughter just bought a 93 A4 Auto 1.8T. Under the hood I could not
find the typical fiberglass (or other material) sound/heat barrier.
There are the typical holes in corner locations under the hood , that
would serve to anchor such a device. Dealer says...turbos do not have
the shield installed at the factory, for some obscure reason...Can
anyone corroborate or modify the dealer's comments ?

First of all, that must be a typo.....or your daughter owns the original test
mule of the A4 back in 1993 when they started designing it!

The 1.8t's do not have this under hood lining as a cost saving device compared
to the V6. My buddy Bill Fluhr actually bought the insulation from the dealer
and installed it himself on his '97 1.8tq. You have to buy the insulation and
all the little screws that hold it in place..... and yes, the hood on the V6
and 1.8t are the same, so there are holes for the insulation screws.
