95 A6/S6 alarm disable?

A moment for a silly question?  A couple times now I've inadvertently set
the alarm while getting out of the car.  Not surprisingly the alarm goes off
when I get back in (the driver's door is unlocked).  I haven't been able to
figure out how to turn the damn thing off, short of waiting for the timeout.
The owners manual doesn't seem to offer a clue either.

Any thoughts?
