I don't think belt driven superchargers heat up the intake air as much as a
turbocharger. Air compression in both cases would heat up the air, but the
turbo is transferring heat from the exhaust gases into the intake gases. I
remember a post where someone mentioned that even after just normal driving his
turbo was glowing pink, that's considerable heat to be passing to the incoming
air. There's no way you would ever see a belt driven supercharger glow from
heat. So yes, an intercooler would help on a belt driven supercharger, but it
isn't as critical. I believe turbochargers benefit much more from intercoolers,
and not all turbo vehicles even have them.
