You wouldn't want to know how much a new ECU from the dealer costs, anyway.
I've heard it's over $1000?

There's 95% chance it's something other than the ECU. It's just that most
mechanics tend to immediately blame the ECU when they get puzzled
diagnosing the problem. Have you or your mechanic checked the error codes?

In theory, yes. In real life, I don't know.

There are no aftermarket drop-in replacements.

I believe any ECU from a car with the same engine code and manual trans
will do.
