Well, if you lock the center diff in a quattro without TorSen, basically
lock the front and rear tires together. Therefore the rears can't
lockup before the fronts, hence better braking in snow. A truck with a
lame-o transfer case would do the same thing, and the difference would
probably be more pronounced given the weight distribution and lack of
adjusting proportioning.
If you have a q without Torsen, but with ABS (read 5ktq), this advantage
means less, because you lose the ABS when the center diff is locked.
