Re: Noisy top ends.



In most motors, when the cam or lifters are replaced they should be replaced
as a pair. Is this true with Audis as well? I'd be nervous about replacing
the lifters and subjecting them to a sloppy cam. Perhaps it is a good idea
to check the cam (with micrometer?) before installing new lifters? Unless I
hear differently from multiple reliable sources, I'll keep doing them as a
set. Can any serious engine builder suggest a used cam with new lifters or
new cam with used lifters?
