Sticky Brakes
Fellow Audians;
Once you own a quattro, it's hard to go back to two wheel drive. When
it was time to buy a vehicle to haul the family (and all of our junk) I
insisted on a "quattro" and we ended up buying a AWD Chevy Astrovan. We
were on trip this weekend and my wife sent me out for a few groceries.
At about 40 mph, I thought I had a flat tire. When I stopped to look,
the tires were fine, but the left rear drum brake was smoking.
Apparently, the parking brake did not release all the way. I tried the
brake release again, but the left rear remained on. I slowly "limped"
into town and a mechanic agreed to have a look. As it turned out, he
had to wait until the next morning before anything would come loose. He
couldn't find anything wrong this morning and suggested that I probably
forgot to release the brake. I told him I considered that, but why
would it just be the left rear brake and not the left & right. Anyone
have any ideas? Anything I should do? Replace the drum? the Shoes?
Please reply off list. TIA for your help.
