I read something about this, I believe the cars were
loaned to them free of charge for special occasions.
This seems to be a standing offer for the "in" people,
this is the same thing that is done with high fashion 
and expensive name Jewelry.  There is a large segment 
of the population that emulates the "annoited" ones
of hollywood, and it's an excellent sales booster.
