re Matching locks and keys

Tom Nas <tnas@euronet.nl> asked:

Can anyone tell me if it's possible -on a 90q- to extract the lock
tumblers
from the ignition, and match them to the doors? All this talk about
locks
has made me realize that I'd like to have matching locks all round
(and
then there's the trunk to contend with, none of my keys seems to fit
this).
Is it hard to get the door locks out on the newer type of door
handle (I
expect it to be the same as on 100/200-type cars), and is it hard to
get at
the ignition barrel (in the dash instead of the steering column)?

Hahaha! You are about to be introduced to team door handle. It easy to get
the locks out of the doors, given that you know how to get the door panel
off, but it is an hour of cursing to put it back. YMMV. The door tumblers
come apart easily, so you can rekey them if you wish. If you do this,
replace the tumbler cylinders with the newer longer type so you can use the
newer lever arm and avoid catastropic failure sometime in the future. I've
never tried to get into the ignition lock although I have seen directions on
the List. It may be easier than the doors, or not.

BTW While we're on the subject of 90qs- mine seems to run rather
hot. It's
at or below 100 C a lot of the time, especially when stationary. Any
data
points from fellow 90q owners (2.3 NG engine)?

My temperature gauge is uncalibrated; but I think the thermostat is supposed
to open at 87C. Does your fan run when it is supposed to?
