Subject: RE: ad-blitzes, or is that Flag waving
A different perspective on the BMW vs. Audi thread.
One day, after getting off the bus going to work in downtown Seattle, I start to
go through a crosswalk at Denny Way and Westlake Ave. I have a green "Walk"
light telling me to go. Traffic looked clear, so I start crossing Westlake Ave.,
which is a five lane street. I have just entered the second lane when a BMW 528e
comes in and makes an abrupt right hand turn just in front of me. He cuts so
close that as I stopped to avoid him, I was tipping forward and put my hand out
as a natural response to keep from getting hit. As a result, I end up brushing
his car with my fingertips. All of a sudden, he slams his brakes, opens his
window, and yells "DON'T TOUCH MY CAR".
I was stunned, since he had just missed running over a pedestrian who had the
right of way and a green walk sign. I point to him, then I point to the still
green "Walk" light and say " Excuse me, but I have the right of way!" He again
yells "DON'T TOUCH MY CAR". Another fellow crossing the street from the other
direction looked on in disbelief. The BMW guy appeared to be psychotic and who
knows who is packing nowadays, so I refrained from making a smart ass comment
about his car not even being a 7 series, and walk away.
Well today, something happened dear to my heart. As I was riding my bike home
from Seattle, I come upon a section where I had to cross the entrance to an
on-ramp to the SR520 freeway. I stop, and seeing a car approaching at a faster
than normal clip, wait for the car to pass by. At the speed the car was going, I
wasn't expecting the car to stop. Lo and behold, the driver steps on the brakes
and decelerates at a extremely high rate. As I watched the car, I noticed no
braking dive at all and the braking was extremely controlled and smooth. Wait a
second! It's a big white Audi! Hey, there's an interesting badge in front. Hey
it's an S4! The driver gives me a wave to cross, and then I notice the driver is
an extremely gorgeous, elegant blonde lady. Wow! I wave thanks and proceed on my
merry way.
Thats my take on BMW vs. Audi.
