I know I get a lot of stuff wrong, but all the material I've seen says that
the German racing colors have been silver.  The only white that I know of
are the US colors, which are white with blue stripes.  

Aside:  I think I read or heard that they don't call the McLaren/Mercedes F1
cars Silver Arrows , because they haven't won a championship, (yet).
