I'm with Aleksander Mierzwa, it sounds like the splice.
A good test is to jump the car from the battery (under the
rear seat; 1 minute with a phillips head screwdriver).
You can also test the voltage at the battery and at the
starting post. They should be within .1 or .2 volts
of each other.
