RE: 86 CGT Front End Help
Eric,
Thanks for the reply. Tonight after the pop - really loud from dead stop,
like something hitting the firewall. Then while driving in a straight line
the car felt as though (on three occasions) that it, not I, had made a
slight course correction. Scary stuff. I got home and up on the stands. No
wiggles when I grabbed and shook the wheels. Right strut leaking badly. Tie
rod ends and ball joint clamps look okay. Rubber is separated on control arm
bushings.
Diagnosis?
Oh and Phil, it does appear the rack is firmly attached to the firewall, yet
while observing the movement from the wheel well opening, there is a point
in the steering rack travel that it (meaning the bracket piece in the
middle) moves outward (toward front of car) ever so slightly.
Please help - wife's car. You know what I mean.
Thank you so much,
David - 86 Coupe GT
