Quattros FS in NC
Spotted a couple of Quattros for sale on Capital Blvd. in
Raleigh, NC yesterday. Not the most reputable dealers to be
sure...but possibly worth looking at given the prices.
1990 200 TQ 5-sp, 130k miles, $6250. Silver w/black leather, and,
I think, sport seats. Seemed like all the power goodies worked,
and it looks like it had every option there was. It was obviously
a northern car, and has some corrosion under the hood and the
underbody components, but really not very bad at all. There were
definite mechanical issues though: Needs a new steering rack;
Boost w/out a/c turned on jumps up and down in a Sin wave fashion-
with a/c it seems fine. No body damage, and paint not bad. Can't
speak to possible accidents, but nothing obvious.

-New Era is a really sketchy dealer- half junk yard/half car lot,
so caveat emptor.
1990 V8 Q Auto, 118k miles, $6995. Red w/black leather. The
wood trim isn't 'damaged', but it looks yellower than mine does,
so it may be faded from original. Nothing apparent broken on
this one either, stereo worked, factory phone, a/c, etc...didn't
drive it though, so there are a lot of unknowns. And from
experience, it can take a while to realize that small components
are broken...but nothing stood out when I was in it. Looked good
but dirty under the hood. Supposedly a one owner car, from TN,
moved to NC and dealer serviced (claims all papers included).
Minor ding in right rear door was only body damage, although there
were a couple of minor paint chips- the paints looked _great_ on
the whole, and didn't have obvious signs of a respray, but I'm
not sure...the dealer did say he thought it had had some body
work (and they have a body shop attached to the lot...) No rust
at all. It still has the UFO's up front, and the 'pads worn'
display was on, although the dealer claimed that the local Audi
dealer had just done the pads a rotors.

-I talked with Ken Moven- this place is much nicer, but barely
a dealership, and there was a cop talking to the guy when I pulled
up.
email me if you want me to check them out any further. The V8
seems especially cheap considering it has no obvious flaws. The
200 could certainly be good for someone with the right skills and
money to invest.
