re: MAF

Brandon -
If I'm not mistaken the output of the bypass valve is fairly close to the
output side of the MAF. During deceleration, the bypass valve opens,
rerouting the trapped, huge pulse of metered air, which also just happens
to contain the products of crankcase venting, toward the inlet side of the
compressor. Now in the case of extreme deceleration, e.g. - accelerating
toward your offramp at + legal speeds, and then the following extended
period of closed throttle, a good percentage of that bypass can actual go
back through the MAF, taking the path of least resistance, and carrying the
crankcase venting products with it. Now if the motor in question has a fair
number of miles on it, (read blow by), or the crankcase vent solenoid valve
is stuck open from debris ( ever look at the inside of one of our vent
hoses after 70K ?) the situation is exasperated. Just a theory; maybe
something to look at.
