I have a chipped 5sp turbo FWD. If anybody can point me to a HP dyno in
LA's beautiful San Fernando Valley, I'll end the specualtion once and for
all.

I'd not heard this about the K24 turbo. Better spool-up, definitely, but I
was told that the K26 would handle more pressure. Also, the K26 was easier
to mod (to like a psuedo RS2) because the shaft was nearly twice the
thickness of the K24, which was prone to schrapnel if you hung a bigger
wheel on it. The reason the 20vt's can handle 2.5 bar with a K24 was design
changes in the intake and vacuum system, different from the 10vt's (hearsay,
I've NO BTDT).

I was told 300hp was the magic number for FI mods.

For 2.2 bar, I was told that new turbo and IC were almost mandatory.

I'm not arguing with Todd, I'm trying to resolve these issues. I have
recently purchased an 88 5kcstq, and would like to make it faster (or at
least as fast) as my 86 5kcst 5sp. Due to FWD, I'm afraid to go more than
1.8 bar in the 86. In the 88, I figure I can go to 2.2 bar with a fair
margin of comfort. If all I need is a K24 and 91 200tq IC (and a chip),
great. But I was under the impression that I needed a reworked K26 (or
RS2),and a custom all aluminum single pass IC.

Thanks,
