Re: quattro bimmer
Hey Rick:
I've actually owned a couple (4) Bimmers: (2) 2002s -- (one was a Tii), a
325IS (87), and a 1977 320i (Roundel Rocks, man!).
I never said the IX was a lousy car -- I love the IX, but they're pricey
compared to same-year Quattros. My uncle had an IX and I learned to drive
in it. In fact, I lived with my uncle for a few years -- and I took my
driver's test in the IX. I personally think the IX is the best car BMW made
(back in the 80s -- I think the 540 is the best Bimmer made in the 90s).
Uncle also owned an 85 4000S Quattro -- so I had the chance to drive the 2
cars off-and-on, comparing them along the way.
Take a deep breath -- then go back to the e-mail I sent and read it again
you'll see that my implication (and opinion) is that the Quattro is better
(in terms of AWD, handling, price, etc.)-- not that the IX is lousy.
I made the switch to the Quattro because the cars are indestructible, and
-- IMO -- they handle 10x better than the 80's model BMWs --> including the
IX. How can I be qualified to make such a judgment call? Because I spent
3 years in an IX. Guess what? I even got laid in an IX!
Hey --How come the IX never won any Rally races? (legitimate question)
BTW (By The Way) -- 'IMO' stands for In My Opinion..----> Cheers
