Quattro driveline details
Been lurking on the list and I have two questions.
First, can anyone point me to a good source of info that explains the
details of the driveline on my new 98 1.8TQ? I have read various web
sites that describe lots of the hardware, but none that say precisely
what the newest Quattros use. IOW, do I have one or three Torsen diffs?
How does the Electronic Diff Lock work (is it ABS-based, dabbing the
caliper on the spinning wheel?)?
Second, if this answer is buried in the archives, can someone instruct
me on how to do an efficient search of same?
thanks much,

Re: My turbo has been replacedFrom: Chris Woodward <cwoodwar@bellsouth.net>Subject: My turbo has been replacedBelieve it or not, my friendly dealership replaced my turbo this weekunder warranty. Not a word was said about the TAP chip, so I'm not sureif they didn't know or just turned their heads. The diagnosis was adefective wastegate, which I have heard was a problem with the earlier1.8T's. I'm kind of sad to not be in the 1999 Passat V6 loaner anymore, though. That tiptronic/V6 combo was loads of fun.In addition, they replaced my driver door window regulator after Icomplained of an odd noise as the window went down. Hope that's thelast of that as I will soon be out of warranty (In Jan.)Date: Fri, 30 Oct 1998 23:06:00 -0400From: Chris Woodward <cwoodwar@bellsouth.net>Subject: My turbo has been replacedBelieve it or not, my friendly dealership replaced my turbo this weekunder warranty.
