F/S 20vt motor parts
Greetings friends, compatriots, cohorts...
I've been helping out a non qlist friend by sitting on a leftover motor of his
and I told him I'd see if there was a market for it. My sitting on it
certainly hasn't hatched it into another S6 motor, but perhaps it could be the
answer to a problem somebody out there may be jammed up in.
It's a lower end for a 3B motor that evidently ran low on oil at some point.
It is, specifically, a block, crank, rods, pistons, brg caps, hardware. The
crankshaft is brand new, hence my comment on oil problems. I never dealt with
the car and couldn't comment on why it was changed out.
Now there's always a catch to this stuff, right? Sure. At some point, somebody
lost one of the main brg caps. The end user would have to obtain a cap off an
MC motor and have the 3B motor align bored.
I loaned this basket case out to a ProRally buddy(Chris Sanborn) who had it
evaluated at a machine shop he deals with. They told him there were scuff
marks on two pistons, and they would recommend replacing the pistons given his
racing application. Chris decided it wasn't worth the hassle to pursue it
furthur and hence I've got it back on my floor. If anyone is looking for a
project motor, or needs parts to complete an existing nightmare, this might be
the solution.
400$ is the number he's looking for the whole shebang. Which doesn't seem that
bad considering what I just paid for my S6 motor, cough, ouch.
I can arrange shipping, or come and see for yourself in greater Concord NH.
Cheers,
Chris Semple
