I think we have a unique in the MB engine, in that the inlet air
temperature sensor has a hole in it.

Indeed - are there _any_ other Audis of this vintage (or any other
vintage) that have the inlet air temperature sensor mounted on the
intercooler?  The WR/WX/1B have it on the inlet manifold.

For those who haven't seen this - it's a perfectly normal inlet air
temperature sensor, except it has a hole in the middle through which
boost air can escape into the boot covering the connectors.  As a
result, these are always soaked in oil.

Anyway - I put the car on ramps when I got back in today, and I propose
to demount the IC on Saturday and take a look.
