Bigger hammer needed

Promise you won't say where this came from, but you need a bigger hammer.

This is the cross slot in the X cap - the vertical legs (other two legs,
making it an "X" cap) are not shown - see the little arrows? Apply a punch
and swat it with a hammer. Start with a small hammer and work your way up.
Once each cap has been shocked loose, use normally accepted techniques to
continue the rebuild.

Make sure the pump is securely fastened down, and wear eye protection.
