I think the film hepled to hold the heat in, even when the car
was moving. I replaced the lenses (another great feature of the
Euros) without the film and I haven't had any problems since, even
in the same situation.
I'm not saying that you need to stay away from the film, just be
aware that it could cause the lens to get very hot, especially
when running high wattage bulbs.
