Absolutely correct, for car repair needs the 0.1mm precision is
adequate. I also have two vernier calipers, the 150mm and the 200mm
ones. They are from the old world, metric-only, and have the all metal
construction. The 0.1 and 0.05 precision respectively.
The only drawback that they have - the don't allow you to switch between
Metric and SAE reading.
For a totally inch-ignorant guy like myself the digital caliper is a
cat's meow coz I can measure in mm, hit the button and get the inch
reading if I need to find a close hose/sheetmetal/drill bit/whatever
American-made substitute.

MCM Electronics catalog 42A arrived today; coincidentally they sell on page
203:
' 6" SAE Dial Caliper, locking screw, satin finish, fine touch adjustment,
hardened stainless steel throughout, accurate to .001", #22-2525, $18.50 each
'
Picture shows a caliper with a big white needle dial. I guess you can hold up
the calipers to a ruler to do conversions...
No experience, affiliation, etc. Their # is 1-800-543-4330
