Re: FS: 1985 UrQ? - $8500
Guys,
I seriously don't think that 38K on a UrQ is necessaraly a good thing! As
we all know, these cars need to be driven....a lot! If I would let my 5000
sit for more than a week it would be runnin rough. I can't imagine if it sat
for months.
Unless the car was stored in a climate controlled garage and regularly
taken out for excercise, I don't think this would be good. I had a similar
experience, finding an '83 UrQ in Atlanta with aproximately the same amount
of miles. Well, the car was a mess. The guy bought it from another guy who
literally let the car sit for 5 years (if I find out who this moron was, I will
gladly shoot him...may the Audi gods curse him!) and outside no less. That's
right, didn't drive it for 5 years! So, this guy bought it and was trying to
put it back into tip top shape. Everything on the car had rotted and this
guy litteraly had to replace EVERYTHING! He said he put a new batt, starter,
alt, t-belt, all v-belts and pulleys, hydro pump, steering rack, turbo, exhaust
...you name it, he did it. He told me all it needed was some tlc and some new
paint. I give him kudos for TRYING to make it into something, but had a hard
time swallowing the $10,000 he wanted for it!!! Ouch! But, I think this poor
guy was just trying to recover some of the money he sunk into it.
Anyways, I just thought I'd share this. Low milage doesn't always = good
car. But, I would be very curious to find out what condition this car really
was in. Did anyone on the list actually see it? If it sold REALLY quick (like
it sounds), maybee it really was a mint one. Maybee someone got a steal! But
let's just assume it wasn't. I don't think any of us need to beat ourselves
up over it! ;)
Later,
Dan
