Re: Speeding Alert, Denver and the rest of us.....
Not to one up you guys, but , here in lovely Santa Barbara County, CA, out fair
city has a deal going with the court, which is already mandated to charge a fee
to process a fixit ticket. A fixit ticket written by a city revenooer, oops, I
mean traffic officer, has to be signed off by a member of the city PD, not a
sheriff or a CHP officer, and you have to have an appointment and pay a fee to
have it signed off. You can't stop a cop in the street. So, if you get a brake
or light ticket, you get it signed off by a brake and light official station,
then pay the city cops, then the court. Badly aimed headlight, up to about
$150.00, worst case. Top that! And the court says they're fees, not fines, and
are not negotiable! BTW, in our lovely state, and I love it, don't get me wrong,
the front plate must be permanently and securely affixed to the vehicle. The cop
would laugh as he wrote the ticket. I must note, however, that this kind of
thing is usually only enforced if you've already irritated the officer.
