V8Q and chip upgrades



     Just installed the IA last month.  Biggest change starts at 3400 rpm.  
     On the 5-spd, you can really feel it start to pull.
     
     As for the socket, Ned said he solders in some sort of PAL socket 
     which changes the address lines to the chip, as a copy protection.  
     Since you don't get the original chip back, I guess it shouldn't 
     matter.  The whole thing sounds bizarre.
     
     Besides the V8, he did my 89 200Q (1.8 bar).  I consider the V8 money 
     well spent, but did (and would still) prioritize it after brakes, 
     wheels, and suspension.
