re: rotor for 20v turbo engine

We've been trying to find a source for the distributor rotor for the 3B 200
quattro 20-valve engine. The bosch source book lists the same rotor as used
on 10 valve turbo engines, and most other audi 5-cylinders ("In the back of
the Bosch catalog, this same 04170 rotor, (1 234 332 350) is also spec'd as
the replacement part for the 1989-91 200, 1989-91 200 Quattro, 1985-87 4000,
1986-88 5000 Turbo/Quattro, 1988-90 Audi 80, 1990 80 Quattro, 1990-91 90
Quattro, and the 1990-91 Coupe Quattro", thanks to Scott Mockry for this
info); however, the stock rotor on the car is _not_ the same.

The metal edge of the 3B 20-valve rotor (that contacts the 5 points in the
cap) is not as wide as the normal 10-valve rotor. Replacement distributors
from Bosch/Audi also include this smaller 3B 20-valve rotor. At least one 3B
20-valve engine has been destroyed from a high rpm/boost misfire; it may have
been due to using the wrong rotor (leading to a preignition condition).

The 3B 20-valve rotor is part number 123433 2414 R1.
I would assume this is the same rotor used in the RR urq, and possibly the
early S4 with ignition distributors.

Rod at Thepartsconnection.com has contacted bosch in germany, as the rotor is
a special order part not normally stocked by USA bosch distributers. Rod will
source these rotors for us, but would like an idea of how many interested
people would likely purchase them; he can base his pricing on ordering that
many. So far I've got about half a dozen interested people; if you think
you'd want one, please email me and I'll pass on the word to Rod.

Anyone got that new parts interchange book from audi? does it list this rotor
at all, or just a whole new distributor? Anyone know of another car using the
same rotor?
