As for the noise, I bet it is comming from the front of the car.  I also
would guess that if you get under there and look at the outer front boots
you will find them worn.  Replace the boots and if need the joints. 
Regrease and drive it away.  Fixed the V8Q i've got.  As for the other
question, my guess is no.  Got a uncle with a I have seen identical cars
here and in Europe some with the badges others without the badges.  Bet Audi
employees came to work drunk one monday and decided that some of the cars
looked better without the badges.  Those cars you and me are driving.  No
wonder I am having so many things break on the T200Q5......................
