Brake rotors 100s

Hope this meets etiquette, I checked archives and couldn't find answer.

I am trying to learn how to do simple repairs on my 100s and I have a
friend, a decent shade tree mechanic, who has offered to help me change my
rear rotors and pads (my reliable mechanic tells me I need them).
Have already been helped un finding source of the parts, thank you, and now
need to know:

Are there special techniques/procedures for this job that differ markedly
from what my buddy has already experienced, ranges form pickup trucks,
LARGE 'murrican iron, Hondas. He specifically asked about torquing the
rotors, or was it the calipers.
