colored dots on coil springs?

On my front springs on my 91 200Q, there are 2 white dots and a yellow dot.
On a set of front springs I have from an S6, there are 2 white dots and a
blue dot. The springs look identical (except for the spots of course), so I
assume the dots relate to the spring rate or something. Anyone know for
sure?
