Nurdge. I _hate_ disagreeing with you on this, because Becker produce
some damn fine equipment.

There's no doubt that the MCC is a radio receiver and NOT an 'in-car
entertainment' device. Actually, the radio reception is superb and
the band coverage (60 FM programme memories, 3 FM station memories,
4 long wave, 2 medium wave and 1 49m band) is everything I need when
I'm wandering about Europe. North American residents have very
different requirements.

RTL, for all its faults, is just about the only German-language news
service I can receive in the car (49 metre band). I would really be
quite lost without it - unlike many British subjects, I find the BBC
pretty selective in its news coverage for the domestic market.

I have also recently acquired a "component" MCC system - an AC917 -
that permits you to combine a separate tape or CD player with the
MCC control head. It's under investigation at the moment.

I had to drive one of our salesmen home in his own car back in 1983 -
it was a 500SEL fitted with a Becker. This was a two-stage jobbie,
with a _valve_ amplifier tucked away somewhere. We left Wiesbaden
to travel to Fulda, and I complained that the radio was unsafe -
listening to Mahler made me want to close my eyes.
