RE: ur-q: replacing sunroof seal
well, the new ur-q sunroof seal is on. some points:
1) i used a small amount of silicon sealer on the join between the roof
and the new seal. i originally wasn't going to but there were clear traces
of a sealer on the original.
2) getting the old seal off and the new one on was a piece of cake.
making sure that there is no gap between the ends was the only moderately
tricky bit.
3) ensuring that the sunroof sits at or below the roof line is tricky.
i played around with this for some time without a lot of success. the issue
seems to be the amount of tension in the sunroof travellers when the rook is
parked. i'd be interested in anyone's experiences with adjusting this.
i road tested the car (or course) on the paikakariki hill road. it's a
funny thing, but i'd swear that the ur-q is getting better and better each
time i go for a blast :-)
