4000csq stiff clutch

Well I do not know if it is me just not driving my car lately or if there is
something wrong. This weekend my Girlfriend and I took her car instead of
mine for our week end drive. Well maybe I was just getting used to the way
the WMB 318 feels but when I took my car home it felt like the clutch was
very still.
I know that the clutch master has been replaces about a year ago, so is this
normal, where should the petal engage the clutch? mine seems like it engages
about an inch off of the ground? is that  normal? There is no obvious
slipping but I am not sure.
