Are there any 2.3L "NF" power mods?

I spent the morning doing the pre-winter p.m. on my Audi 5000CS Quattro.
This is the first time I cracked the Bentley manual to see if everything
was in spec.  The only thing that I noticed that the timing was off.  It
was set to 6 BTDC instead of the 15 BTDC the manual suggests.  I set it to
17 BTDC and this made a small difference in power, somehow it is still
lacking IMHO.  Is there any performance mods that can be done without
breaking the piggy back or hauling out the engine hoist?
